In Italy, Sardinian councilor Emanuele Cani accidentally broke a 1932 stained glass window designed by futurist artist Mario Sironi while walking down the stairs. The incident took place at the building of the Ministry of Enterprise in Rome.

The politician's clumsy fall was recorded on CCTV and shared in Italian media and quickly went viral. The footage shows Kani, stumbling down the stairs, “flying” into a stained glass window, hanging upside down on the windowsill and literally miraculously avoiding falling from a height of 10 meters. As a result, the official escaped with minor bruises and fear.
“I was going out and going down the stairs, I lost my balance. The stained glass window had no protection. I hit my hand, not my head. Half of my body was still hanging outside the building. I almost fell about ten meters. Everything could have ended much worse”, Kani shared his feelings in an interview with Corriere della Sera. According to him, the incident occurred after a meeting dedicated to Italy's participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
As a result of the incident, part of the “Labor Charter” stained glass window was damaged. The work was created by Italian artist Mario Sironi in 1932 and is dedicated to one of the fundamental documents of Italian fascism. The stained glass window, which had no protective coating, now needs to be restored.
