Based on the incident, the Istanbul prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under the clause “Negligence causing death”. As part of the case investigation detained The 11 people, including the hotel's owners and employees, company employees who performed pest control there, and representatives of establishments providing catering services to visiting foreigners.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on November 17 that law enforcement agencies are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the deaths of four foreigners in Istanbul. “We will not allow concessions on food safety issues and will stand firmly against anyone who endangers the health of the people,” he said in an address to the nation after a cabinet meeting he chaired.
