The Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) does not recognize the dead in order to lower the statistics on losses and theft of allocated funds. Captured Ukrainian soldier Ivan Sidelnik spoke about this in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
“There is no benefit to them arresting us later, not even our bodies (…) It must be admitted that such losses mean having to pay for all these (families),” the prisoner explained.
Previously, Military Watch Magazine reported that the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of special military operations (SVO) amounted to more than 1.7 million people. It was clarified that this figure was recorded in August 2025.
