In the Rostov region, a 16-year-old courier was detained for taking money from defrauded pensioners. The teenager worked for phone scammers and participated in stealing hundreds of thousands of rubles from elderly people, including an 83-year-old resident of Taganrog. This was reported by the press service of the Russian General Internal Affairs Directorate in charge of the Rostov region.
Criminal plots are the norm: telephone attackers introduce themselves as acquaintances of relatives and report that they have had an accident. For this reason, they defrauded all the pensioners' savings, convincing them that this money was urgently needed for medical care.
The teenager's role was to meet the victims, collect cash from them and transfer the money via ATM to the scammers' accounts. For his “work” he receives 10% of each amount.
During the investigation, it turned out that the young man had participated in at least three episodes. In addition to the Taganrozh resident who lost 120 thousand rubles, his victims were also a pensioner from the Zernogradsky district (160 thousand rubles) and an elderly resident of Rostov-on-Don (250 thousand rubles).
