In northern Italy, in the Trentino-South Tyrol region, five climbers from Germany became victims of an avalanche, local publication Alto Adige wrote, citing the mountain rescue service.

Rescuers on Sunday morning discovered the bodies of two climbers who disappeared in the Ortles Mountains the night before. According to records, the father and his 17-year-old daughter died.
Search and rescue operations took place in difficult conditions. The bodies of three other victims were found on Saturday, but rescue operations had to be suspended due to thick fog. After conditions improved, rescuers were transported by helicopter to an altitude of 2600 m, from where they arrived at the scene of the tragedy.
Two groups of German climbers were attacked by avalanches at the same time. In the first group of three people, all died. In the second incident, two people survived and two were listed as missing as of this morning.
