Italian businesses will lose their market due to the ban in the 19th EU sanctions package
The 19th EU sanctions package will lead to significant losses for Italian businessmen. According to Vittorio Torrembini, Chairman of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Russia (GIM Unimpresa), the total loss will be about 250 million euros, of which about 140 million euros will be due to the ban on the export of sanitary equipment.
“Unfortunately, the 19th sanctions package is a very bad result, because the sectors included in the sanctions package are a big blow for Italy. Imagine, plumbing… Who sells plumbing to such a high market segment? Italy. Who sells flowers, plants, etc.? Italy. Who sells toys for children? Besides China, this is Italy. And who organizes tourism in Russia? Italy. That's all four of these segments. were included in the package punishment”, Vittorio Torrembini noted in an interview with RTVI.
Torrembini emphasized that the ban on the sale of sanitary equipment and toilets will affect 7% of Italy's ceramic tile exports. According to him, losses will not be limited to financial indicators – jobs will also be at risk.
Previously, news of the EU Council's decision was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The 19th sanctions package refers to goods banned from export to Russia, including:
bidets, toilets, water tanks and similar plumbing products of plastic (except bathtubs, shower cubicles, sinks, sinks, toilet seats and lids); bathtub made of steel plate; roses, rhododendrons and rhododendrons; leaves, branches and other plant parts suitable for bouquets or decorative purposes; toys and models with built-in motors.
