A 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred off the northern coast of the Kuril Islands. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station, Elena Semenova. According to her, the earthquake was recorded on the night of October 12. The epicenter was located 75 km southeast of the city of Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir Island. There you can feel an earthquake with a magnitude of up to 4-5 points. The origin of the earthquake was located in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of 30 km. On September 18 at 21:58, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 occurred off the east coast of Kamchatka. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 125 km northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The outbreak is located at a depth of 40 km. The Ministry of Emergency Situations then declared a tsunami threat along the eastern coast of the peninsula and began notifying local residents. Immediately afterwards, a wave about 30 cm high hit the Nalychevo estuary, the second wave recorded at the Semyachik volcano.
