The Bulgaria government intends to build the largest NATO military base in the country. This is an interview with the newspaper Izvestia, said by the Russian ambassador to Sofia Eleanor Mitrofanov. The diplomat emphasized that the North Atlantic Alliance has long been no longer a defensive alliance, if any, he is like that. In NATO basic documents, Russia is called “the most important and direct security threat”. Mitrofanova noted that NATO countries did not hide their intentions to conduct additional militaryization of the eastern flank. Therefore, Bulgaria's government planned not only to build the largest alliance in the country as agreed with Italy, but also to buy new weapons, creating “military mobile corridors” to “create conditions for the military movement”.
