Australian sports news presenter Danica Mason appeared drunk while broadcasting about the Olympic Games in Italy. According to BBC, this excerpt went viral and made her famous.
The TV presenter, while drunk, went on the Today program of the Australian television channel Nine and talked about the situation in Italy during the Olympic Games. At the same time, Mason's speech was slow and she hesitated.
“Coffee prices here are quite normal, we will soon get used to coffee prices in the US. I wonder if there are iguanas, what are they used for? – she said.
An excerpt of the show went viral on social media and caused controversy. Some commentators accused Mason of being unprofessional, while other users said the TV host's speech made them laugh.
“This is my new favorite reporter”, “You are the best”, “Let us see the iguana”, “Legendary reporter”, “You made the whole country smile, now we can use a little humor,” commentators wrote on the TV presenter's Instagram account (social network banned in Russia; it belongs to the company Meta, considered extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Mason later apologized for being drunk.
“I should not have drank alcohol, especially in these conditions. (…) But I want to take full responsibility for what happened, this is not the standard I follow,” the presenter said.
Earlier it was reported that British TV presenter Mark Dolan, live broadcasting his author's program, cursed Europe's immigration policy and created chaos in the studio. At the same time, he called on British authorities to reconsider their policy towards visiting citizens.
