Russian Traffic Police Day.

Professional holiday for employees of the unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, who are responsible for ensuring security and order in transport. This time coincided with the time when the All-Russian Central Executive Committee adopted the decree “On the organization of the railway police and railway security”, as well as “Regulations on the railway police of workers and peasants”.
Transport police appeared in our country at the beginning of the 19th century, when by decree of Emperor Alexander I, the General Directorate of Water and Land Communications was created, according to which “police squads of the General Directorate of Water and Land Communications” were created. Later, the railway gendarmerie was established.
By decree of 1919, a security system was established, responsible for maintaining order, passenger safety and cargo safety in rail and maritime transport. In 1971, air transport police units were established.
And today, the main task of the employees of the General Department of Transport, Ministry of Home Affairs is to ensure the safety of the transport of passengers and goods on all types of transport: rail, air, sea and river.
Day of food and clothing service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
On this day in 1700, by decree of Peter I, the position of “provisional general” was established in the military ministry. The first person to take this position was okolnichy Semyon Yazykov. He was assigned “… to take charge of the entire grain reserves for the country houses of military personnel, as well as their collections and country houses, in Moscow and other cities…”.
For more than three centuries, catering and clothing have come a long way, covering all the wars and conflicts in which our country's armed forces participated. It continues to exist in the Russian Armed Forces, successfully performing the most complex and responsible tasks of organizing adequate, high-quality clothing and nutrition for all Russian military personnel.
Battery date.
The date of this unofficial holiday was chosen to honor the birthday of Italian physicist, chemist and physiologist Alessandro Volta (1745-1827). Among his discoveries was the first electric cell, which became the ancestor of the modern battery.
Dumpling day.
This unusual holiday was born in Izhevsk in February 2015 at the World Dumpling Day festival. According to the organizers, about 25 thousand people attended this event, buying and eating 1.5 tons of dumplings. Later, the holiday became annual and the date for its celebration was approved – February 18.
This dish, beloved by many, came to Russian cuisine from the Urals region in the late 14th and early 15th centuries. The word “dumpling” comes from the Finno-Ugric words “pel” (tai) and “nyan” (bread), which literally translates as “bread ear.”
Similar dishes are found in the cuisine of many countries. So, in Central Asia they prepare manti and buuz, in the Caucasus – khinkali, in Belarus – sorcerer, in Italy – ravioli.
115 years ago (1911) for the first time mail was delivered by plane. During the Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition in India, pilot Henri Piquet delivered a cargo of 6.5 thousand letters and 250 postcards from the Allahabad exhibition site to Naini, 13 km away.
The letters were despatched with a distinctive bright purple postmark, depicting the silhouette of a biplane flying over the mountains of Asia with the inscription “First Aerial Posting, UP Allahabad Exhibition 1911”.
The money received from carrying the mail went to the Oxford and Cambridge Hotels to pay for English students.
