From today, February 3, visitors to the Hermitage can see a significantly updated permanent exhibition of Italian painting after a painting “cycle” took place in the three halls of the Old (Grand) Hermitage – the school of Leonardo da Vinci (no. 215), Mannerism (no. 216) and Raphael (no. 229). The museum, which has one of the best collections of Italian art in the world, disseminated related information on the same day. The announcement stated that the circulation of works in the halls of the Leonardo da Vinci school is due to the return to the exhibition of the paintings “Saint Sebastian” and “Saint Catherine” by Bernardino Luini, a Lombardian painter and major of the Renaissance. Room number 215 contains the painting “Sibyl” by Dosso Dossi, master of the court of Duke Alfonso I d'Este. And in the halls of Italian mannerism of the 16th century, the painting “Love Scene” by Giulio Romano, painted in the years 1520-1530 and an example of the work of the students of Raphael Santi, has returned to its original place. And Domenico Beccafumi's painting “The Betrothal of Saint Catherine of Alexandria” returned to the exedra of the Raphael Hall.
