The head of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin, called the fire at the Crans-Montana resort one of the worst tragedies in the country's history. He made such a statement during a press conference, writes RIA Novosti.
“The fire that occurred last night at a bar in Crans-Montana is one of the worst tragedies our country has ever known,” the politician emphasized.
He also called the incident “a tragedy of unprecedented scale.” This politician said he has conducted negotiations with leaders of neighboring countries, including France and Italy. The President did not rule out the possibility that foreign citizens could be among the victims.
The day before, a fire broke out at Le Constellation bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland. According to police, about 100 people were injured, most in serious condition. About 40 people died.
Local media suggested that the cause of the tragedy at the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland may have been careless handling of fireworks.
It was also reported that most of the victims of the bar fire in the Crans-Montana ski resort in southwestern Switzerland were in a serious condition.
